Why Volunteer

According to joint research by the U.S. Census Bureau and AmeriCorps, over 75.7 million or 28.3% of the U.S. population age 16 and up formally volunteered through an organization between September 2022 and September 2023.

The following opportunities are volunteer positions at this time, not full-time employment.

The time commitment for each position varies—if you have the skills to fill a position, even if it's only for 1 hour per month, fill out the volunteer form, and we will find a spot for you!

Michigan Women understand that we all have busy lives and many competing priorities: any time or talent you share with us to help drive our mission is greatly appreciated.

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors ensures strong governance, strategic oversight, and accountability, serving two-year terms. Members often specialize in finance, legal, fundraising, and strategic planning. The current board was formed at Michigan Women’s founding in May 2024, and a new board is proposed to be selected in January 2025.

Board Positions Include:

  • Chair/President: Leads the board, facilitates meetings, and serves as the liaison with the Executive Director.
  • Vice-Chair/Vice President: Assists the Chair and oversees specific initiatives or committees.
  • Secretary: Maintains official records and ensures compliance with governance practices.
  • Treasurer: Oversees financial management and budgeting, providing regular updates to the board.

Core Leadership Team

The core leadership team focuses on setting the organization’s strategic direction, making high-level decisions, and ensuring effective operations. They also assess the impact of programs and initiatives using data-driven insights.

Core Leadership Roles Include:

  • Chief Executive Officer (CEO): Lead the nonprofit’s vision, strategy, and overall operations while serving as its primary public representative.
    • Chief Growth Officer (CGO): Develop and oversee strategies to grow the organization’s audience, drive engagement, and generate revenue.
    • Chief Operating Officer (COO): Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient workflows, technology, and resource utilization while overseeing compliance with policies and regulations.
    • Chief Relationship Officer (CRO): Leads supporter engagement efforts, ensuring alignment across fundraising, volunteer coordination, and outreach.

Growth Team

Community-driven content is the driving force behind Michigan Women’s mission. Our content team ensures we remain a trusted resource for women and girls across Michigan.

Content Creation Team:

  • Content Creation Director: Oversees day-to-day content production, ensuring everything aligns with deadlines and quality standards.
  • Content Creator: Produces podcasts, blogs, social media posts, videos, and other materials for various platforms.
  • Graphic Designer: Creates eye-catching visuals to support branding and campaigns.
  • Content Researcher: Verifies facts and sources to ensure all content is accurate and credible.

Content Engagement Team:

  • Content Engagement Director: Oversees the timely publishing of high-quality, on-brand content.
  • Content Publisher: Executes content distribution across all channels, ensuring it reaches the right audiences.
  • Social Media Coordinator: Manages scheduling, posting, and interacting with followers to maintain an active social media presence.
  • Content Amplification Specialist: Engages with content online by liking, sharing, and commenting to boost its reach and visibility.

Relationship Team

  • Fundraising Manager: Plans campaigns, builds relationships with donors, and applies for grants to secure resources for Michigan Women’s mission.
  • Relationship Manager: Manages the database of subscribers, followers, and volunteers, fostering engagement and coordinating inquiries.
  • Volunteer Manager: Recruits, trains, and coordinates volunteers, ensuring a positive and impactful experience for all involved.
