Building the 2025 Vision for Michigan Women
See how Michigan Women is building momentum with a clear vision, a new website, and opportunities for collaboration. Join the movement!
Since our Inaugural Collaboration Meeting on November 11th, I’ve been reflecting on our discussion and diligently building the foundation for Michigan Women through the website.
I’m excited to share what I’ve worked on over the past few weeks and invite you to join me in shaping our collective future!
Our Collaboration Meetings are where ideas take root, and plans come to life. They’re an opportunity for passionate individuals like you to connect, contribute, and guide the direction of Michigan Women. Your voice matters.

Here's a look at our progress and explore how we can continue building momentum together.
Logo
I refined the Michigan Women logo by keeping the structure, updating the Michigan icon to blue, and switching the fonts to Quicksand for "Michigan" and Brush Script for "Women." While I’ve received mixed feedback on the fonts, I’ve taken the design as far as my skills (and time!) allow for now.
If any graphic designers in the community have ideas to enhance the logo, I’d love to hear from you.
Website Development: Crafting a Strong Start
After our inaugural meeting, I was floored by how many people signed up and showed interest in my idea! After reflecting on our conversation, it was clear that people like the idea and want to get involved, but we need a stronger starting point and more direct leadership to get this thing off the ground.
Using feedback from our conversation, I developed the brand identity messaging, core site architecture, and essential pages: Home, About, and What We Do. (For context: I own a marketing agency, so this type of work is my expertise!)
These pages represent a starting point, a vision to build upon, and a place to unite. I’m excited to hear your thoughts on refining and expanding this platform together.
Who We Are and Why
I spent considerable time reflecting on our mission, the focus on women, and the unique role Michigan Women can play in driving positive change. Here’s where we stand:
Mission Statement
Michigan Women is a grassroots coalition committed to amplifying local voices, providing trusted community-driven insights, and equipping women with the tools and confidence to take meaningful action. Together, we create a network that transforms awareness into impact, fostering stronger communities and neighborhoods.
Vision for the Future
We envision a Michigan where women and girls are informed, engaged, and empowered to participate in local governance and advocacy. We aim to create an inclusive community where everyone's voice is heard, and collective action leads to strengthened communities and a brighter future.
Why Women?
We focus on women because they play a vital role in shaping strong, connected communities. Having a space dedicated to women creates an environment where they can freely share their ideas, ask questions, and support one another without fear of judgment or being overshadowed. It allows women to connect over shared experiences, build confidence, and focus on solutions that matter most to them, creating a stronger sense of community and empowerment.
What We Do: Building Our Pillars
Here's a snapshot of what I came up with for what we do.
-
Community-Driven Content
-
Share local stories, issues, and experiences about your community that we can share with members. *Content subject to approval.
-
Discover local stories, issues, and experiences on our website that amplifies community-driven content and ensures women's voices and balanced perspectives are heard.
2. Guidance for Civic Action: Learn about local officials, their agendas shaping our communities, how to influence decisions, and actionable steps to make your voice heard. (Note: I built out the Government section of the website in the spring of 2024. I look forward to diving back into that section as part of the Civic Action initiative.
3. Empower the Next Gen: Provide mentorship, participation opportunities, and support to help Michigan women of all ages navigate challenges and build stronger communities.
4. Safe Spaces for Connection: Create meaningful connections in a judgment-free space that fosters respectful dialogue, shared values, and collaborative community improvement.
How We Do It
The website now provides an overview of what we do, with more details to come as we continue building out these initiatives. Expanding on the "what we do" section is next on the agenda, and your ideas and expertise could help shape these efforts. This is the perfect time to get involved and contribute to the foundation we’re building!
One of the biggest priorities as we grow is communication. Reaching and engaging communities across Michigan requires good programs, content, and a thoughtful, multi-platform approach that ensures everyone’s voice is heard. Volunteers will play a crucial role in building this framework—whether it’s crafting content, managing outreach efforts, or facilitating conversations. Together, we can amplify women’s voices and lay the groundwork for meaningful change.

Let’s build this together—every step counts!
Calls-to-Action: Get Involved
Once visitors land on the website, we have their attention for just a few seconds. Providing accessible ways to engage is critical to building relationships and brand loyalty.
I created three core calls to action: Join, Meet, and Volunteer. Each action includes a sign-up form, a thank-you page, and an automated follow-up email. From the user’s perspective, the process is seamless. From a marketer’s perspective, that’s six web pages and three emails—no small feat, but worth it!
